Some parents have blamed the Zimbabwe School Examination Council (ZIMSEC) for perpetuating drug abuse and early pregnancies after have failed to release the 2021 Ordinary and Advanced Level results on time as expected.

Those who spoke to Sly Media said the delay in releasing the 2021 ‘O’ and ‘A’ Level results has led to some school leavers indulging in life threatening exercises like drug abuse and early marriages.

“As a parent I blame ZIMSEC for drug abuse because these results were supposed to be released early March so that these children will commence school again and that will keep them busy but we are still with them home and they are now drug addicts because all the time they are roaming around streets,” Mishack Jena said.

“Unwanted pregnancies are at rise because our children are staying at home 24/7 doing nothing except sleeping around with men all this, I blame ZIMSEC because they should consider the importance of our children’s future by releasing results in time other than delaying like this.” Chenai Maguma.

” ZIMSEC has killed our children’s future because look now these children had almost two to three months after leaving school after writing their final examinations until now, they are still waiting and they are now involved in different behaviors because they have nothing meaningful to do except drugs and sexual intercourse,” lamenting Joshua Muzembe.

Added another parent,

” These people should make a plan before all our children became drug addicts and before we become grandparents at a tender age all we want is for them to release these results before it is too late, ” said Mercy Gejo.
