ZIMRE Park School Orders Parents to Pay US$1 Every Week to Teach Pupils

Parents who have their children enrolled at ZIMRE Park Primary school are complaining of being duped after the school ordered them to pay weekly subscriptions to give to teachers.

A parent, who spoke to this publication and condemned the proposal.

“This is corruption and we are being forced to pay that money on top of school fees,” he said.

“Please help us to expose this corruption, parents are being forced to pay $1every week to pay teachers, to which we are not in agreement of.”

He added, “There was no meeting which held discuss this, they just imposed it and payments will start tomorrow.

“It is being said that those who pay, they will be grouped and they must come early so that they learn first and those who fail to pay will come last and the teachers will be at go slow.”

Obert Masaraure, president of the Amalgated Rural Teachers Union (ATRUZ) commented on the issue and said that,

“This is what happens when Mthuli Ncube and Emerson Mnangagwa decides not to fund the education system.

“The poor will be marginalized and that is why we are engaging in the ‘save our education’ campaign’ the education system is collapsing in Zimbabwe.”
