The Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Prof Mthuli Ncube, issued out a statement clarifying that the COVID-19 vaccines will be accessed free of charge by all Zimbabweans wishing to be vaccinated.

The statement comes after media was awash with information that the COVID-19 vaccine would be sold to citizens for a fee.
Just recently, the Chinese Embassy said it would donate the vaccine to Zimbabwe and was awaiting the collection of the vaccine by its Southern African partner.
Meanwhile, Parliament has a critical role to play in the procurement of resources during a health crisis.

Due to the pandemic, formulation of emergency laws and policies, mobilization and re-allocation of public resources justifies the need for Parliament to provide the necessary checks and balances to guard against the excesses of the Executive.

Oversight on Government decisions and actions with respect to policy formulation and implementation as well as public resource management is of paramount importance.
