Zimbabwe will today (Monday) receive 35 000 doses of Covaxin COVID-19 vaccine from India.

President Emerson Mnangagwa is expected to receive the consignment at the Robert Mugabe International Airport.

India has donated 75 000 doses and arrangements being made for the second batch of 40 000 doses to come.

The country has once already received two batches of Sinopharm vaccines 20 000 from China.

Last night the Indian Government said the remaining doses will be availed as promised, saying the offer is part of the strong bilateral ties that exist between the two republics.

“The vaccines which were promised by the Indian Government are coming tomorrow (Monday),” said Indian Ambassador to Zimbabwe Vijay Khanduja.

“The first batch will have 35 000 doses but we are now working on logistics for the remainder.”
