Zimbabwe is projecting that its economy will grow by 6 percent this year hinged on increased productivity in agriculture, mining and manufacturing.
Government figures show that the economy grew by a little over 7 percent in 2021.
This was said by President Emmerson Mnangagwa in his 42nd independence commemoration speech in Bulawayo on Monday.
“In 2021, the economy grew by 7.4%, while in 2022 it is projected to grow by 5.5%, leveraging on the peaceful environment, increased production and productivity; infrastructural development, a buoyant mining sector as well as a recovering tourism and hospitality industry,” he said.
President Mnangagwa also said his administration was unwavering in its commitment to create opportunities in agriculture, mining, manufacturing, tourism, infrastructure, healthcare, education and other economic sectors.
He added that the country was showing good economic performance following last years statistics and the GDP projections forth is year.
President Mnangagwa said the country should ride on the abundant business and investment prospects coming into the economy.
