ZBC’s Radio presenter Rutendo’s ‘fake’ brother was arrested Friday and appeared in court on allegations of attempting to extort Prophet Tapiwa Freddy.

Mutetepi Maushe (36) was not asked to plead when he appeared before magistrate Dennis Mangosi and he was remanded to the 7th December on free bail

Information available also said that Rutendo was married to the late opposition politician Kisinot Mukwazhi who passed away on the 17 November 2019.

Mukwazhi was the leader of little known Zimbabwe Development Party and was a presidential candidate for the 2013 Zimbabwean general election.

Rutendo’s late husband’s contribution to the political arena was when in 2013 he approached the Constitutional Court seeking an order to compel Treasury to release funding to all political parties participating in national elections.

However, the court said it would have been irresponsible and dangerous for government if all political parties were to be funded from the fiscus

The fake brother allegedly connived with Rutendo to extort money from the prophet and started threatening him as a ‘brother’ to her.

During the that time the ZBC engineer was using a fake name Tapson Makuti

The RadioZim presenter, Rutendo was been arrested on charges of extorting popular Harare preacher Tapiwa Freddy with whom she had a relationship.

She appeared at the Harare Magistrate Court, before Magistrate Sheunesu Matova who remanded her to December 9 for routine remand.

Makuti, (33) who was represented by Tinashe Mbala, was released on $5 000 bail and ordered not to interfere with state witnesses.

Allegations are that sometime in 2020 Freddy had a relationship with Makuti. During the relationship, it is alleged that she started threatening to expose their affair if he does not meet her financial and material demands.

The court heard that sometime in August 2021, Freddy was summoned by Chief Chikwaka and upon his arrival at the chief’s homestead he was tipped that there were some police officers who wanted to extort him.

He made a U-turn and sought to return to Harare but was stopped by some police officers who were manning a roadblock and was forced to get back to the chief’s homestead.
