Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation has appointed Adelelaide Chikunguru as the new chief executive officer with immediate effect.
This development was announced by the broadcaster’s board chairman Josaya Tayi .
In a statement Tayi said Chikunguru has been appointed with effect from this Wednesday.
“The Zimbabwe Broadcasting Cooperation (ZBC) board is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Adelaide Chikunguru as subtantive CEO with effect from Wednesday 9June 2021,” read part of the statement.
Chikunguru who holds a Bachelor Of Science Honors degree and a Masters in media and society studies has held several leadership positions in various companies before,
She was also a corporate executive before joining ZBC.
Chikunguru is taking over from Helliate Rushwaya who has been the acting CEO for the past 13 months.
The board applauded Rushwaya for a job well done.
“The board takes this opportunity to thank Ms Rushwaya for stepping into the role of acting CEO at a time that Zimbabwe and the rest of the world were fighting the Covid-19 pandemic,” read part of the statement.
“Through her stewardship ZBC played a crucial role in supporting the Government’s mitigation efforts and raising awareness in the fight against the deadly corona virus.”
