Vendor Raped In Bindura

The ZRP is warning traders/vendors to be cognisant of the current COVID-19 regulations as criminals take advantage to fleece or sexually abuse them.
A Bindura woman (19) was raped on 19/02/21 at about 1600 hrs after an unknown man pretending to be a customer, lured her to the railway line near Kitsiyatota Panning Site and raped her.
Police in Harare arrested a suspect (20) for rape which occurred between the period 03/01/2021 and 11/02/21, at Hopley Zone 5, Harare.
The suspect allegedly raped the victim (14) and detained her at his homestead where she had gone to collect her cellphone which she had left for charging.
Investigations are in progress.
The ZRP reiterates that members of the public must be wary of social media advertisements and online traders.
On 20/02/21, a Bulawayo man (30) was fleeced of ZAR 50 000 by an unknown man impersonating a health worker at Mpilo Hospital.
The unsuspecting victim was lured to the venue through a WhatsApp chat where the suspect claimed to be selling vehicle parts.
He was made to leave his bag in the suspect’s vehicle and they entered the hospital premises before the suspect asserted to have forgotten something in the car and vanished with the bag containing the ZAR 50 000.
A foetus wrapped by newspapers was discovered at Corner Nelson Mandela & Leopold Takawira, in Harare on 20/02/21.
The still body was discovered by a mentally retarded person scavenging in a bin. Meanwhile the foetus was taken to Parirenyatwa Hospital for post-mortem.
The ZRP confirms the arrest of Solomon Nqobile Sibanda for theft of copper cables weighing 83kg on 19/02/21.
The suspect and two accomplices still on the run were found burning copper cables in a bush area near Madumabisa, Hwange. Investigations are in progress.
The ZRP is appealing for information which may lead to the arrest of murder suspects in a case which occurred between 15/02/21 and 17/2/21 at Plot 74, R1 Village, Two-Tree Chinhoyi.
The victim (31) who had visited her sister went missing on 15/2/21 and was found dead near Two-Tree dam on 17/2/21. In a similar case, on 18/02/21 Police in Mahuhwe arrested 2 suspects for murder which occurred at Kauswa Village, Chief Matsivo, Mahuhwe.
The suspects are part of the mob which assaulted the victim to death after they accused him of stealing a dish. Members of the public are advised not to put the law into their own hands.
Investigations are underway.
