Warriors and Olympique Lyon forward Tinotenda Kadewere is the recent player to join the national team’s growing list of injured players, his club has confirmed his injury.
The French club confirmed the news Friday on their official twitter account when they gave an update of their squad that will play on Saturday.
Lyon will host Sochaux in a French Cup round of 32 game at Parc Olympique Lyonnais.
“Our @CoupedeFrance squad for #OLFCSM! 🔴🔵 @Tino_Kadewere_ misses out with a muscle injury,” Lyon posted on twitter.
However, the club did not announce how long he will be side-lined with the injury.
The 25-year-old former Harare City striker’s injury comes as a huge blow to the Warriors who are set to play two crucial AFCON qualifier matches this month end.
Kadewere was named in the blotted 38-man squad that was announced by ZIFA last week.
Zimbabwe will play Botswana on 25 March before hosting Zambia on 29 March.
Meanwhile, Supersport United midfielder Kudakwashe Mahachi is doubtful the upcoming AFCON qualifiers.
The speedy winger limped off the field after 57 minutes, during Friday’s DSTV Premiership game against TS Galaxy.
Moreover, UK-based players are officially ruled out of the two decisive encounters.
This comes after a number of European countries enforced travel restrictions that all passengers who travel to countries listed as high-risk nations will be quarantined for ten days on their return.
The travel restrictions made European clubs to block their players from travelling with the back up of FIFA who indicated that no club is obliged to release their players.
Other Warriors players who are on the injury list include Khama Billiat, Butholezwe Ncube and Terrence Dzukamanja.
