Multi-talented Zimdancehall chanter Soul Musaka popularly known as Soul Jah Love has died.
He was 31.
Soul Jah Love , who was diabetic, was reportedly rushed to Mbuya Dorcas Hospital in Harare without a pulse and was declared dead upon arrival.
The ‘Ndini Uya Uya’hit-maker, often referred to as Zimbabwe’s Vybz Kartel and his ‘Chibaba baba’ and ‘Hauite’ signature chants featured in his multiple hits, constantly wrestled with his diabetic condition throughout his music career.
At some point, the condition resulted in him seeking spiritual help from Prophet Walter Magaya.
Affectionately known by his legion of fans as Sauro, Musaka, was a versatile artist who belted multiple hits reflecting his personal life experiences.
In his song, Mbereko, the youthful chanter, chronicled his battle with infertility which is said to have resulted in the bitter end of his marriage to fellow Zimdancehall artist Bounty Lisa.
Described by many as a musical genius, Soul Jah Love will probably be remembered for his brutal honesty about his flaws and mistakes in his music.
Taking for example the hit song ‘Pamamonya ipapo’ motivates people to have confidence.
Although, Soul Jah Love’s career was marred by controversy and shortcomings that from time to time made headlines for the wrong reasons, he always seemed to weather every storm and come back afloat a better man.
