Sex workers in Southlea Park are disappointed after falling victim to a gang of men hiring them for services and pay using fake money.

The workers revealed there was a gang of three men driving an unmarked black Toyota Wish who hire the desperate ladies of the night for services and pay using counterfeit money.

The sex workers have appealed to the Zimbabwe Republic Police to arrest the culprits.

In an interview with Slymedianews one of the ladies identified as Fadzai said, “Amongst the gang members is a dreadlocked guy who was once busted for the same scam at a local night club.”

“The gang is very dangerous.”

Another lady known as Sisi Rumbi narrated her experiences with the hands of the conmen.

“I thought it was my lucky day when one of the guys approached me and offered a generous amount of money and was paying in US dollars,” she said.

“I was disappointed as l gave a top drawer performance to please my client.

“Little did I know that he is a conman.

“I was duped, he paid me using fake money.”

Sis Rumbi said she realized it was fake money when she tried to use it.

“It was only when l went to the kiosk that the money was detected as fake and l was embarrassed,” she said.

“To make matters worse, when people know your trade they are quick to judge you they think you wanted to scam them also.

“Luckily for me those who saw the note are people from the neighbourhood, they spared me.”

Sex workers are back on the streets following the relaxation of lockdown regulations.
