Serious Challenge Of Drugs And Substance Abuse In Harare: Mayor Mafume

Harare City Council says it is committed to improve service delivery by fighting corruption and other ills bedeviled the city.

 

 

 

During a State of the City address, Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume said they are adopting a zero tolerance to corruption.

 

 

 

“We have adopted a zero tolerance to corruption approach and have developed standard operating procedures on land management,” said Mayor Mafume.

 

 

 

“We are supportive of the stance taken by government that all officials with cases before the courts must not be allowed to be at work,” he added.

 

 

 

He also spoke about the challenge of drug and substance abuse that is affecting most youths in the city.
“We have a serious challenge of drugs and substance abuse in Harare and this adversely affecting the youths who are the future of this country” added Mafume.

 

 

“As a local authority we have an important role to play so we will implement sport and recreation programs so that young people are involved.”

 

 

“We are also developing a sports policy which will guide the development and funding of sporting activities in the City” he said.
