Collen Faison (34) was slapped with a three-year jail term after Magistrate Judith Taruvinga convicted him of theft.

Magistrate Taruvinga, in her ruling said, “The court has also taken note of the fact that the accused is a family man but the court cannot omit the fact that the accused was stealing from one house hold to another.

“The accused is therefore sentenced to three years imprisonment, one year suspended on the conditions that the accused pays the amount of RTGS 30 000 to the first complainant, Emmanuelo Jangara and another RTGS10 000 to the complainant Pamela Chale.”

Magistrate Taruvinga said other year would be suspended on condition Faison does not commit a similar offence.

The State’s case was that Faison, on March 14, 2021 forcefully opened the locked door of Chale’s house and stole property including three-kilogram cardiac gas tank and a blanket.

On the second account, Faison on that same night forcefully opened Jangara’s household doors while he was away and took four doorframes, wheelbarrow, two picks, four shovels and four blankets.
