Gospel artist Reverend Togarepi Chivaviro is releasing his18th album titled ‘Kana Wakayambuka’ on April 2.
The album which carries six tracks features Dendera maestro Allan Chimbetu, Mutare based gospel artist Blessing Shumba and Mai Patai of the ‘Garai Muchinamata’ fame.
The album will be launched virtually.
“My loyal followers know that I used to release an album annually on my birthdays but, it had been a while since I last sang in 2019 as I was focusing on my studies,” said Rev Chivaviro.
“I wanted to resume on my birthday this year but I failed due to lockdown restrictions since the album has several collaborations, but we are ready to release the album for Easter.”
The Ebenezer hitmaker said the upcoming album will cater for both the young and old musical needs.
“We have collaborations on this album with various Artists like Allan Chimbetu, Blessing Shumba, Mai Patai, Dorcas Moyo and Rumbi Zvirikunze,” he said.
“I did another hymn with Vabati VaJehovah, then another song with my son Tinashe.”
Reverend Chivaviro who was born and bred in Gokwe attributed his resilience to his upbringing.
“People associate Gokwe with negative things’ as a backward area but fortunately by the grace of God that is were I come from,” he said.
“At grade three I knew how to carry out all the household chores and in other words we were taught to be self sustained, even if things get tough we people from Gokwe will never be affected.
“The strong rural background gave us resistance and resilience.”
