Questions Over Tomato’s Death

By Tendai Mukaro

The death of comedian Lot Magarianzo affectionately known as Tomatoe has resulted in the public raising  concerns over the increased cases of drug abuse amongst youths.

Tomato had been admitted at an unnamed hospital last week battling with cardiac related complications.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing on of Lot Magarianzo, populary known as Tomato the Commedian,” posted DJ Fantan following Tomato’s death.

“Tomato was hospitalized some time last week following a stroke, swollen legs and water in the heart .
“Tomato was one month away from his thirtieth birthday at the time of his death.”

Comments on various social media platforms seems to suggest drug abuse had contributed to Tomato’s death.
Travor Hanjo who claimed to have known Tomato in person said he abused alcohol.
He wrote,” Musombodhiya, this guy was always drunk, I had never seen him sober.”

Collins Chimuka wrote,” Guka (street name for crystal meth) use can cause irreversible harm, increased heart rate and blood pressure, damaged blood vessels in the brain that can cause strokes  or an irregular heartbeat that can in turn cause cardiovascular collapse or death, liver, kidney and lung damage.”

Alec Mutumwa wrote, “This young man was a good entertainer now he died prematurely.”

“What about those who call themselves leaders of this country, did they notice him?
“He was into comedy because of unemployment.

“The man was too young to die,he started this career in the streets now was popular but government never helped him: corrupt regime is a killer.”
