Plamstead Farm manager Leon Koza was arrested for torturing employee Personal Paulo with a baton stick before setting his feet on fire for stealing four eggs.

The incident occurred on February 6, 2021 and came to light on February 26, 2021 when Paulo sought medical attention.

“I was beaten by Leon, who is the brother-in-law of the owner, after I had stolen four eggs and cooked them,” said Paulo.

“Leon tied me facing downwards and started beating my feet with a baton stick till they were swollen.

“He then started a fire and burnt my feet.

“He said this was a lesson to others so they will not steal.”

Paulo said he was threatened with unspecified action and dismissal from work if he reported Koza.

Paulo only sought medical attention following a visit from his sister who noticed he had wounds and was unable to walk.

A report was made at Banket Police Station leading to Koza’s arrest, who has since appeared in court and was remanded out of court on free bail to March 19, 2021.
