Warriors forward, Perfect Chikwende has ‘perfectly’ begun his senior national team journey with a crucial goal against the Zebras of Botswana in an Afcon qualifier match that was played Thursday evening in Francistown.

Zimbabwe collected maximum points in Botswana courtesy of the Simba SC midfielder 16th minute goal.

Chikwende scored through a close header inside the box, after the Zebras goalkeeper failed to deal with a well-executed freekick taken by Warriors captain, Knowledge Musona.

The 27-year-old former FC Platinum and Bulawayo Chiefs who had never donned the Gold and Green Warriors kit was trusted by coach Logarusic who surprisingly threw him into the starting line-up.

The Gweru born star proved his worth in the Warriors squad through his solitary strike that sent the technical team and every Zimbabwean football lover abuzz.

His goal has put Zimbabwe one step closer to the Afcon finals to be played in Cameroon in 2022.

Zimbabwe’s qualification might be confirmed tonight if Chipolilopolo of Zambia fail fo beat The Desert Foxes of Algeria.
