Opposition Democratic Union of Zimbabwe (DUZ) president, Robert Chapman is ready for the upcoming general elections which are to be held on 23 August this year.

‘We are hoping that the country takes the opportunity to pay attention more to policies, development and ensuring that we look beyond the election’, he said at a press conference held in Harare Tuesday.

Chapman is the of two political parties Patriotic Zimbabwean party and Democratic Union of Zimbabwe, hopes that the country holds peaceful elections and that political parties should not become catalysts of political violence in the forth-coming harmonised elections.

The Chinhoyi bred gentleman is using both urban and rural mobilisation as one of his campaign strategies in a bid to have many followers who will vote for him and his party in the near future.

The organising secretary for the party alluded in a statement that, ‘we are not a ceremonial political party’ showing how serious they are about this race.

The Democratic Union of Zimbabwe Party’s ethos rests on three pillars namely prosperity, justice and modernisation, Chapman believes that the Zimbabwean economy can be fixed by revising the monetary policy, the infrastructure of the currency and job creation so as to avert poverty which has ravaged many.
