Opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) said the newly appointed Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) Commissioner Abigail Ambrose Mohadi, who is former vice president Mohadi’s daughter must resign.
Addressing journalists at a press conference Tuesday, the party’s deputy spokesperson Gift Ostallos said that the appointment is ‘scandalous’ and it is ‘criminal’.
“We think that ZEC must do the right thing to save whatever is left of its integrity by making sure that Mohadi’s daughter resigns” said Ostallos.
Some CCC members has described the appointment as ‘unconstitutional’ and they have vowed to see her out of ZEC.
“We believe that the commissioner must resign before the Citizens Coalition for Change invokes section 59 of the Zimbabwe’s constitution by making sure we occupy Jason Moyo and Harare Street to make sure that we demand the resignation of the compatriot” he said.
“Parliament has been rendered useless thanks to the executive tyranny but we have gone there as the Citizens Coalition to bring life to Parliament.
“We are going there whether they like it or not, we are going there to make sure that our members have been given the mandate by ordinary people not even Zanu can take away our responsibility from us not even anyone can take that responsibility.
“Our members are going there with the necessary political teeth to bite, to hold the executive to account and question power” added Ostallos.
