No Salary For Absentee Teachers: Govt

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has issued a statement directing the Salary Service Bureau (SSB) to process salary payments for civil servants based on work attendance.



In a statement, PSC secretary Ambassador Jonathan Wutawunashe said,



“The Salary Service Bureau has been instructed to process salary payments for civil servants strictly on the basis of work attendance registers submitted by Government ministries and departments.”



“Ministries will indicate cases were personnel has been officially excused from duty to ensure the inclusion of such personnel on the payroll.”


Government ministries and department workforce has been reduced in the past in line with the Covid-19 lockdown regulations.



Following the recent relaxation of the regulations were the decongestion of offices was increased from 10 percent to 50 percent, the workforce has been increased.


However, unvaccinated personnel has been barred from boarding PSC buses as well as from reporting for duty, as a measure to curb the spread of Covid-19.
