Premier League giants Manchester United suprisingly lost 1-0 to Warriors international midfielder, Marvelous Nakamba’s Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon at Old Trafford.
Nakamba was an unused substitute in Villa’s win which saw the Claret and Blue ending a 12 year winless streak at Old Trafford and handing the red devils their first defeat this season.
It was Villa defender Kortney Hause who scored the only goal of the match, through a powerful header inside the box, direct from a corner kick.
The thrilling game ended in a dramatic way after Hauge handled the ball inside his own box few minutes after finding the back of the net.
Refree of the day Mike Dean then pointed to spot resulting in Man United’s penalty.
However, Portuguese international Bruno Fernandez wasted the last minute golden oppoturtinty that would have resulted in United’s equaliser.
The attacking midfielder failed to convert the stoppage time penalty after directing his shot over the cross bar.
The last time Villa walked away with a win at Old Trafford was in 2009 when Gabriel Agbonlahor scored the winning goal.
Meanwhile, in another premier league match played today at Stamford Bridge, Manchester City edged Chelsea 1-0 courtesy of Gabriel Jesus’ 53rd minute goal.
The victory saw Pep Guardiola’s side ending the reigning European champions’ unbeaten run in the league this season.
