Highly-rated Aston Villa and Warriors midfielder, Marvelous Nakamba’s impressive perfomance against Chelsea FC Sunday at the Villa Park, saw him being nominated Man of the Match (MOTM).

The game was his 50th appearance for Villa since his summer arrival in 2019 and it was also the EPL last match for the 2020/21 season.

Villa stunned Chelsea 2-1 with their goals coming from Bertrand Traore who scored at the stroke of the first half and A El Ghazi securing the win just 7 minutes into the second half.

The Hwange born star displayed some quality football for The Claret and Blue (Villa), his combination with John McGinn in the midfield left 10,000 spectactors who were welcomed back into the stadiums thrilled by their teams’ perfomance.

Fans watched the game live in the stadia exactly after 462 days after being banned as a result to observe to the World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines.

Meanwhile, despite rumours that linked the former Club Brugge player with a Villa exit at the beginning of the season and during the January transfer window, he proved to be a key figure in Dean Smith’s squad.

According to the club’s player ratings on, Nakamba was rated 9/10 making only him and goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez who was also rated 9/10 the two Villa’s best players for the day.

Villa journalist Ashley Preece through his offical twitter account, applauded the 27-year-old’s perfomance.

Preece said the soft spoken Nakamba displayed some beautiful play and described him as his own ‘star player’.

“Ratings from Villa Park; Marvelous Nakamba my star man, put in an incredible showing.
“That was such a special atmosphere. Get the beers in!! Superb Villa and what a performance to sign off. Buzzing,” reads his post.

The former Bantu Rovers defensive midfielder seem to have charmed a lot of Villa fans who also casted their comments responding to Preece’s twit, praising him for the superb display.

Chris Dann using @AV VillaRoad twitter account said, “Targett another great game, however Nakamba just nicks it for me 10/10. Why he didn’t feature more this season is beyond me.” @Berdan08914685 also concurred with the Aston Villa’s scribe twit.

“He was magnificent today! We finished on a high with two fantastic wins! something to look forward to,” read his post.

Unlike last season (2019/20) where they were struggling and fighting relegation, this time around Villa were far away from the relegation zone.

They ended the season seated on position 11 with 55 points after playing the whole 38 games of the campaign.
