Aston Villa’s Marvelous Nakamba

Warriors international, Marvelous Nakamba’s superb performance against premier league side Leeds United, Saturday, helped out Aston Villa FC to an impressive win away at Ellan Road stadium.

Dean Smith handed Nakamba his fourth league match start this season.

The former Bantu Rovers player, won five duels, committed no foul and incredibly made six interceptions for the Lions.

Ashley Preece, the club’s writer gave Nakamba 8/10 match rating.

He further described the defensive midfielder as “an octopus”.

“One of Smith’s changes as the Zimbabwean came in for Douglas. The African plugged gaps incredibly well throughout as Leeds struggled to get past him on the counter. Nakamba was like an octopus, legs just kept appearing from everywhere as he won back possession, much to the annoyance of Bielsa’s men. Top work,” Preece said.

The Villians have not conceded a goal in all the league games the 27-year old Warriors star has started this season.

Without their injured captain Jack Grealish, Villa comfortably picked up their first away win against Leeds since December 2000, through El Ghazi’s 5th minute goal.

Nakamba might be a blow for the Warriors’ next month AFCON games, following new ‘unfriendly’ travel regulations that were put in place by the UK government.
