‘My Kids Only Eat Maputi and Go To Sleep’

An Epworth woman Ndakaziya Marange is living in abject poverty together with her children, after getting divorced in 2010.



In an interview with Sly Media, she said she is living in poverty after getting her husband kicked her put of their matrimonial home and since then she has been battling to send her children to school.



“After I become a divorcee, I am suffering a lot I cannot even send my children to school because I am not working currently.


“I have 3 children who are not going to school due to financial problems despite the fact that my children are intelligent,” said Marange.




Marange is also failing to meet her children’s needs to an extent that she cannot even afford to even food is now a challenge for her to access.


“This morning my children eat only Maputi and in the afternoon they ate porridge I don’t know where they got mealie meal to cook that porridge from.


“Most of the time we can just sleep without eating anything, like tonight l don’t know what we are going to eat,” she said.



Accridng to Marange she become a laughing stock in her Epworth community



“People in the community are calling me all names because I am always begging”, she said.


She said that she had so many things she wanted for her and the family to survive.



“I want money to start up a chicken project, I want somewhere big to stay because this house is not my house it is my parent’s house, I want my own apartment since my family is big,” she told SlyMedia.



“My children also want clothes.”

At one-point Marange resorted to drugs and became addicted for a long time after she divorced in 2010.
