Zimbabwe women’s senior national team, Mighty Warriors, Wednesday afternoon commenced their journey to the road to Morocco for the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) with a comfortable 3-1 victory over visitors Eswatini.

Three first half goals from Emmaculate Msipa Alice Moyo, Priviledge Mupeti and Marjory Nyaumwe were enough for the Mighty Warriors to secure a victory at the National Sports Stadium today.

Zimbabwe will now travel to Mbabane in Eswatini on the 26th of October with an advantage over their opponents who only got a consolation goal scored by Mokgale.

The team that wins the two-legged fixture will play either Botswana or Mozambique in the last qualifying round.

The Mighty Warriors have been in camp for a month now, since they travelled to South Africa for the Women’s COSAFA Cup.

Their head coach Sithethelelwe “Kwinji 15” Sibanda made three changes to the team that travelled to the Eastern Cape.

Impressive forward Rutendo “Madzimai” Makore is out due to injury, while Mavis Chirandu together with Talent Mugwanda reportedly excused themselves owing to personal issues.

The trio was replaced by Faith Moyo, Dina Rose Banda and Purit Mugayi who were initially dropped when the squad travelled to South Africa.

Meanwhile, the AWCON tournament will be held in Morocco next year, July 2022.
