Former opposition MDC T Chairperson for Harare Province Zivai Mhetu said ‘mismanagement’ and ‘abuse of funds’ by the party leadership have left the organisation broke.

Mhetu who recently quit the party after his suspension over comments regarding MDC-T’s dismal performance in last month’s by-election.

He however, says he did not receive any official communication regarding his suspension.

Mhetu told Slymedianews that the party had gone down to the levels of failing to pay its polling agents in the March 26 by-elections.

“In February this year, the party received a 100 million grant from government and just a month in, it is failing to pay its agents.

“This is a clear indication that Mwonzora and his team are abusing thefunds,” he said.

He went further, “It’s sad that as a province we needed some funds for basic administration and we were asked to borrow. When we needed to return the money, the party sent us a fake proof of payment.”

“The creditor as we speak has confiscated computers and furniture from our provincial office, it’s empty,” he added.

The fall out with party leader came after Mhetu accused his boss for his loss and the party’s pathetic performance in the by-election.
