Former Chicken Inn FC’s highly rated mdifielder, Clemence Matawu has been appointed the club’s new administrator.
The appointment was revealed on the club’s Twitter account.
“Attention!!! Allow us to announce that officially @matawu15, Clemence Matawu is now the Administrator of Chicken Inn FC,” read part of the post.
“From running in the midfield to running the club.”
The Footballers Union of Zimbabwe (FUZ) has congratulated the Shamva born star for attaining a new post at the Gamecocks.
“Congratulations Mr Matawu. We wish you all the best in your new endeavors,” FUZ posted on their twitter account.
Matawu, who once played for now defunct, Motor Action FC, officially hung his boots last December, after spending nearly two decades as a footballer.
In 2006, the midfielder was crowned Premier League’s soccer star of the year ahead of former Bosso midfielder, Honour Gombami who was the first runner up.
In 2009, he left for Poland where he played for Polonia Bytom.
Matawu had been playing for Chicken Inn since he returned from Polland in 2011.
In 2015, he won the championship with the Gamecocks under coach Joey Antipas.
In 2017, he was one of the Castle Lager Soccer Star finalists.
Matawu is a holder of a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Sport Science and Coaching from the National University of Science and Technology (NUST).
