Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s former wife Mary Mubaiwa is reportedly critically ill as she failed to appear in court with her matter heard in hospital.
Mubaiwa was supposed to stand trial at the Harare Magistrate’s court today for an assault charge.
However, magistrate Letwin Rwodzi who presided over the matter postponed the trial to June 29, 2021.
Standing in for the State was prosecutor Clemence Muchemwa.
In this matter, Mubaiwa is facing assault allegations.
Mary was reported to have assaulted VP Chiwenga’s maid Delight Munyoro (36) at Hellenic School in Borrowdale.
An argument ensued when Munyoro told Mubaiwa she could not collect her children from the school as Munyoro had standing orders from the VP Chiwenga that she could not to do so until the legal matter between them was resolved.
It is alleged Mubaiwa, in a fit of rage assaulted Munyoro.
Mubaiwa is also facing attempted murder charges for trying to ‘kill’ VP Chiwenga when he was battling for his life in a South African Hospital.
