The Movement for Democratic Change Alliance (MDCA) incarcerated women are to spend more days behind bars as the High Court has provisionally postponed their bail judgment.
Joana Mammombe and Cecelia Chimbiri bail judgement has been postponed to Friday 30 April 2021.
The duo had approached the higher court for the second time now after the first attempt failed with High Court Judge Tawanda Chitapi ruling them multiple offenders and unrepentant.
They have also twice approached the magistrates court on the initial appearance and the bail was denied, then they tried a second time under changed circumstances.
The two were first arrested on 6 April 2021 by ZRP officers and charged with disorderly conduct after they allegedly chanted some slogans outside Harare Magistrates Court after attending a court session for
Meanwhile, other MDCA members who were arrested at the Harare magistrates court when they had come in solidarity with the convicted Makomborero Haruzivishe, Vongai Tome, Ngoni Mupfumba and two others have been granted $5000 bail each by the High Court today.
Also, other activists whose matter is in court,Haruzivishe, Alan Moyo, Denford Ngadziore’s case has been rolled over to May 5. The case is in connection with a flash demonstration that happened in Harare’s CBD on 19 February 2020.
