Warriors’ team doctor Nicholas Munyonga has said Kudakwashe Mahachi’s injury was not a serious one but just a thigh contusion owing to a collision with an opponent.

This comes as a relief and good news for the Warriors’ technical team which is led by the head coach Norman Mapeza.
Mahachi sustained an injury during the Warriors’ preparatory match verus Sudan Sunday afternoon in Yaounde, Cameroon.

The Supersport United player was forced out in the first half due to the injury and was replaced by the Warriors’ veteran defender Onismor Bhasera.

However, according to the team doctor, the player might be out only for two to three days.

“It’s nothing serious.

“Its a thigh contusion that resulted from a collision with an opponent,” Munyonga confirmed.

“Kuda should be okay in the next two to three days.”

Meanwhile, apart from Mahachi, goalkeeper Petros Mhari was also substituted due to an injury.

Mhari was then replaced by Talbert Shumba after the shotstopper reportedly showed signs of discomfort after landing awkwardly.
Zimbabwe played to a goalless draw with Sudan.

The Warriors are reportedly negotiating to play their second friendly match with the hosts Cameroon in few days.

Zimbawe who travelled to Cameroon last week are set to take on Senegal on January 10 in their tournament’s opener before they play Malawi and Guinea respectively.
