Opposition MDC T National Chairperson Senator Morgan Komichi has refuted allegations that he is angling himself to takeover power at the party’s congress and hand it over to Advocate Nelson Chamisa’s Citizens Coalition for Change ahead of the 2023 harmonized general elections.

Speaking during an interview on Sly Media TV, Senator Komichi said if he gets elected, he would be stupid to hand over the party to another leader.

“I don’t know whether there is any person on earth that would acquire leadership of a very big organization like the MDC T and after getting the presidency hands it over to a leader of another party,” he inquired.

Senator Komichi added, “God will kill me if I do that because it is God who would have given me that opportunity to lead MDC. God knows that if I lead MDC it will be great again God knows that.”

There have been murmuring in the MDC T corridors that after dismally performing in the March by-elections, the party needs to change leadership and strategy.

Senator Komichi seems to concur that the party needs to change those managing it.
“MDC now requires probably a change manager who would make miracles out of this. So, if I am the one, I will ensure it is retaining to the glory days of Tsvangirayi,” said he.

The much talked about MDC T congress has been postponed for the third time and it’s not clear when it will be held.

Some critics have said that party leader Daglous Mwonzora is the one delaying congress to ensure that he places his cronies in positions of influence to retain his position.

Following its dismal performance in the by-elections, the party of Tsvangirayi seems to have been written off the hearts of many as some are accusing its leadership of siding with ZANU PF which allegations they deny.
