The Nelson Chamisa MDC Alliance’s Youth Assembly Chairperson Obey Sithole has been arrested outside the Harare Magistrate Court premises.
Sithole announced his arrest via social media.
His arrest comes minutes after he attended a trial of another case where he is jointly accused with other five youth party members including the incarcerated Joana Mamombe and Cecilia Chimbiri.
“I have just been arrested on my way out of court, and am yet to be advised of my charge. I remain unshaken, till freedom!” posted Sithole on social media.
Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human rights Obey Shava said Obey is yet to be charged.
“Sithole is being charged for criminal nuisance in line with the 1 April 2021 to which he did not participate.”
Sithole is being detained at the Harare central police station.
He was arrested in the afternoon at the Harare magistrates court where he had come to attend to a commencement of his trial with other five party youth members.
However, the trial did not kick start and was postponed to 13 May 2021.
