Tanzania Standard Newspapers (TSN) has sent an apology to the Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu following an advert from State Mining Corporation (STAMICO) which carried a message of mourning the incoming President instead of congratulating her for being sworn in as the President.
“The State Mining Corporation advert that appeared in the Daily News of today, Monday, March 29,2021 was inadvertently inserted mourning the death of HE President Samia Suluhu Hassan, instead of congratulating Her Excellence for being sworn in as the 6th President of the United Republic of Tanzania,” read part of the apology.
The Editor also apologized to STAMICO and promised to investigate the matter and rectify the error.
“We regret for any inconvenience caused by this error especially to Her Excellency President Of the Republic Of Tanzania and our esteemed customer, the STAMICO,” read part of the apology.
“The corrected version and apology will be published tomorrow March 30,2021”.
Staff members responsible for the advertising department have since been suspended awaiting the investigation which are underway.
The contract which the company had with Mr Lameck Samson; a sales freelancer has been terminated with immediate effect.
“Management of Tanzania Standard Newspapers TSN has suspended the acting head of advertising, Ms Anitha K Shayo and the head of front desk and customer care, Mr Rajab Juma effective today,” read part of the apology.
“On the same note the management has also terminated the contract with sales Freelancer, Mr Lameck Samson.”
The company said it would reprimand those involved.
“Disciplinary action will be taken against all to be implicated upon completion of the investigation,” read part of the apology.
