over his lobola saga for Pholosho Mohlala
South African media personality Somizi Mhlongo has slammed reports that he has paid lobola for married South African actor Pholosho Mohlala. According to the Idols SA judge, the rumours have caused some trouble for his current relationships as his two partners have now started questioning him.
Somgaga also made it clear that Pholosho is a married man and is expecting a child soon. Somizi has set the record straight about his relationship with Pholosho. According to the reality TV star, he and Pholosho are just friends.
This comes after City Press alleged that he had paid lobola for Pholoso and that the two of them were planning a spring wedding this September.
Sources close to the Idols SA judge have also alleged that Mamfene, as he is affectionately known among his friends, paid a substantial amount in lobola for his new man.
“The date’s been set. He’s getting married in September. The couple’s going to look at wedding venues on Monday [tomorrow]. He paid lobola during the long weekend of March 19 at Pholoso’s home in Hammanskraal,” said one source.
Mhlongo and Mohlala first made headlines in April, when the Living the Dream With Somizi star hosted a 26th birthday celebration for his new partner at the Just Cuban restaurant in Hatfield, Pretoria, along with media personality Dineo Ranaka.
“Somizi just wants to get married. It’s as if he’s trying to show [his estranged husband, media personality Mohale Motaung] that, even after leaving him, he’ll find another man and settle down,” said another source.
However, Somizi has headed to his Instagram page to share that he and Pholosho are just friends and that Pholoso is actually married and is expecting a child.
“There’s a story about me that I am getting married and a wedding is in plan and I’ve paid 1.5 million lobola to Pholosho. I don’t have an issue with that because I’m used to people writing sh*t about me. They only got one thing right, I know Pholosho. Pholosho is married, he’s got a wife who’s pregnant and we are just friends.”
He then went on to say that the rumours are actually causing conflict in his current relationships. The 49-year-old says that he is seeing two people, one that is very wealthy and one that is not as wealthy.
“They are causing conflict in my relationships. I have two people that I was dating, one has money and the other doesn’t have money but I have to explain to these two people what’s going on. And I was still going to choose between the two of them, which the obvious case is that I am going to choose the one with money but I have to be decent and tell him first that I was going to leave him. Now he’s left me first because of the City Press story. City Press ruined my plan,” he said.

Meanwhile, Somizi’s rich lover has definitely left people wondering whether or not it could be Sunny Obasi – the owner of Coco Meat Lounge in Benoni, who controversial blogger Musa Khawula alleged was behind Somizi’s spoils.
“Meet Sunny Obasi who is the owner of Coco Town Meat Lounge; Benoni. Sunny Obasi was at Konka according to Somizi Mhlongo which is where they met and Sunny spent over R100 000 on Somizi and his friends,” tweeted Musa.
