I don’t Abuse Drugs: Ricky Fire

Zimdancehall artist Tulani Takavada known in the music circles as Ricky Fire has warned fellow artists to desist from abusing drugs.

 

His sentiments come at a time the country is faced with a growing problem of youths abusing drugs and amongst them music artists.

 

Posting on his Facebook page, Ricky Fire said though he sang about taking drugs he did not take them.

 

“Ini zvamunondiona kudai handina kubvira ndada kupinda muma drugs since birth, yes sometimes ndaitoimba ndichisimbisa chamba but kutaura chokwadi ini kana chamba andirove,” said the Ndiratidze Zvaunoita hitmaker.

 

“To all my fellow artists kana wanga usati warova ma drugs or kana wanga usati watanga pliz gara warega hako nekuti zvinokunetsa mangwana.

 

” Vazhinji kwazvo vava kuda kuregedza ma drugs asi nenyaya ye strong addiction zvirikuramba.”

 

 

Ricky Fire said those faced with the problem of drug abuse needed divine intervention and rehabilitation.

 

 

“Ndoda kungoti dai Mwari asunungura avo varikuda havo kusiya madrugs avabatsira, newewo namatawo wega zvakasimba kuti Mwari akukundise kusiya madrugs that spirit needs to be destroyed,” he said.

 

“Kune vari kurova asi havachade, yambiro yangu ndeyekuti chekutanga you need to pray zvakasimba kana kutsvaka anokunamatirawo kudzinga that spirit yemadrugs then ozoita zve rehab hako.”

 

 

The Zvemu TV hitmaker went on to urge artists to venture into other businesses and not only rely on music.

 

 

 

The Covid-19 lockdown left many artists failing to make ends meet as live shows which were a major source of revenue were banned.

 

“Chimwe chinhu zvekare ma artist musamirire mari yemangoma iyi especially here in Zim tsvagawo something to do kana ka business kekuita kuti usazochema mangwana kana mangoma arema coz remangwana hakuna anoziva only God knows,” said Ricky Fire.

 

 

A growing number of artists have ventured into other businesses.
Dendera King Sulumani Chimbetu is into tobacco farming with Utakataka Express leader Peter Moyo also into farming.

 

Selmor Mtukudzi has opened a retail shop in Domboshava and Seh Calaz is in the shoe selling business.

 

 

Enzo Ishall recently launched his paintball shooting business.
