Well-known Gweru city car dealer, Peter Dube Thursday night opened fire on four people, killing two and injuring his wife Nyasha Nharingo and his sister-in-law following a domestic dispute at their residence in the central business district.
Among the deceased is Shelton Chinhango who was shot at close range while seated in his car as he tried to flee the violent suspect, Dube accused Chinhango of having an affair with his wife.
Nyasha and his sister Nyaradzo are in critical condition after she was shot through the neck.
Friday Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) barricaded the block of flats while dispersing crowds that had gathered at the scene.
Police attending the scene said the suspect, Dube has since gone in hiding but his mobile phone was still ringing without being answered.
The two’s father, Mr Bothwell Nharingo visited them in the hospital around 8 am and said Nyasha has two bullets in the head which are still to be removed while her sister Nyaradzo has a deep bullet wound in the neck
Their condition is said to be critical.
“The ZRP confirms a shooting incident which occurred at Room Number 11 Bensam Flat, Main Street, Gweru on 23rd April 2021 at 0120 hours in which a suspect Peter Dube (35) shot dead two people and seriously injured two others in a domestic dispute linked to infidelity allegations. Police are currently looking for the suspect,” said the statement.
The ZRP is also investigating the murder of a bar lady (27) at Kuyambwa Bottlestore, Banket between 22nd and 23rd April.
The victim was found with stab wounds on the throat, head and chest.
