Chipinge …A 23-year-old Simbisai Munyavana a sex worker from Chipinge hailed National Aids Council (NAC) and the Zimbabwe Health Initiative (ZHI) for equipping her with knowledge that transformed her life from being a sex worker to a dignified person.
Speaking during a media tour organized by (NAC), Munyavana said that she benefited from ZHI under the Dreams programme as she got knowledge on various projects.
“I was trained on a particular programme on how to save money which is Internal Savings and Lending (ISL),” she told the journalists.
“We were taught how to keep small livestock under a project called small livestock production when we get knowledge on how to keep small livestock.’’
She added that with all this knowledge she got from ZHI on how to save money and she decided to build her own house.
“I am an orphan and I am a tenant so it becomes so hard for me to pay rent to an extend that I ended up getting myself in sex work.”
“The kind of knowledge I get from ZHI on Internal Savings and Lending helps me a lot in securing a stand and I manage to build a two roomed house.’’
She said that after saving so much money she started a bigger business the buying and selling of second hand clothes.
“From the money I saved I managed to travel to Mozambique to do purchase second hand clothes and shoes”. she said.
Munyavana applauded ZHI for introducing the Dreams programme since it transformed her life from a sex worker to a dignified person in the community.
