Simbarashe Tizora popularly known as DJ Tizz continues to lift the local entertainment flag high and has landed a gig with a global radio with less than a year in the industry.
The former ZiFM Stereo radio presenter is now a presenter of the Music Pulse (Africa), an international podcast accessible on apps including iHeartradii, Speaker, iTunes and Applepodcasts.
The show, which premiered in October last year, focuses on profiling artists.
“Artists have a life which goes beyond their careers as artists and the show allows listeners to listen as they narrate their stories,” DJ Tizz told Slymedianews.
“It is important that they get such platforms so that people can really understand who they are for example the late SoulJah Luv had some issues affecting his life off stage, had he been given a chance to share his story people would have understood him or even helped.”
The industrious 39-year old broadcaster who draws his inspiration from Jamaican DJ Fidel said he is looking forward to owning his own radio channel.
” I am working towards having my own music channel as well as a Youtube channel,” said DJ Tizz.
“I would also want to own an agency that will be managing artists.”
” I have realized some local artists are talented but they lack professionalism.”
With the world going digital, Simba noted with concern how people especially in the third world countries were still holding on to traditional media.
“People are resistant to change, they are slow to adapt to technology,” he said.
“You find some established artists refusing to be featured in programmes for online media as they did not understand the concept of digital media.”
DJ Tizz’s journey in the industry has not been without any challenges.
In September 2020 he was sacked from ZiFM Stereo, with the station stating he did not have the requisite qualifications for a radio presenter.
The radio caster had joined the station as an account sales executive.
His passion for radio resulted in being taken under the wings of DJ Munya who taught him the trade.
DJ Tizz said even in clubs resident DJs were not reluctant to engage him.
DJ Tizz, who is also the owner of Tizz Cellular, went to Victoria High school in Masvingo and did his ‘A’ level at Mutare Boys High.
He is married with three children and stays in Budiriro.
