Bulawayo Chiefs FC Name Their 2021 Soccer Squad

Bulawayo Chiefs FC have officially announced their 27-man squad ahead of the 2021 Chibuku Super Cup and the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (CLPSL) season.

The former will see football return in Zimbabwe after one-year and is set to commence on Saturday, whilst the latter is slated for July.

Bulawayo Chiefs club’s social media manager and communications officer, Thulani ‘Javas’ Sibanda confirmed the squad announcement to Sly Media News.

“Please note that we have announced our squad for the 2021 season,” he said.

In their squad, Chiefs’ assembled a team which comprises of 2 goalkeepers, 9 defenders, 8 midfielders, 5 strikers and 3 players from their developmental side.

The undisputed twitter champions, recently unveiled their new kit for this season, under their own brand.

Ninjas as they are popularly known, will wear ‘Amakhosi Wear’ and it will cater for home, away, alternative and training kits.

Thulani Sibanda’s coached side returned all the players they had assembled in preparation for the 2020 season, except for utility player Shadreck Nyahwa who recently joined Harare giants Dynamos FC.

This year they also added three new signings into their squad, Dominic Jaricha (24) a Highlanders juniors’ product, striker Fredrick Muza once with Telone and left back Panashe Shoko (19) who was turning out for Southern Region division 1 side Mosi Rovers.

Meanwhile, as domestic football is set to resume this coming weekend via the Chibuku Cup, Chiefs will kickstart the tournament with a tricky encounter against Bulawayo giants Highlanders FC.

Commenting on the Bulawayo derby which will be played at Babourfields Stadium on Saturday at 11 am, the club’s spokesperson (Javas) said the Ninjas are ready to take on Bosso who are the Chibuku Cup reigning champions.

“We are not worried much as we believe we are both starting at equal levels. Our first game will tell us a lot. So, until then we are not pressing any panic buttons, and besides like we always say ‘Ebhoreni akula John Cena’,” Javas said.
