Botswana President Eric Masisi is expected to meet with President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Wednesday before proceeding to Zambia on a working visit.
“The working visit will afford His Excellency The President, as Chair of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security, the opportunity to engage with his counterparts, His Excellency Mr Edgar Chagwa Lungu, President of the Republic of Zambia, and His Excellency Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, on bilateral, regional and continental issues of mutual interest and concern,” the Botswana International Affairs Ministry said in a statement on Monday.
“Heads of States will also explore common solutions to pressing socio-economic challenges occasioned by Covid-19.
“His Excellency the President will use this opportunity to present Botswana candidate for the position of SADC Executive Secretary Mr Elias Epedi Magosi.
Botswana has a long-standing relation with both Zambia and Zimbabwe.”
Botswana has over the years enjoyed strong bonds of friendship and fruitful cooperation with Zimbabwe and Zambia in various fields, including trade, tourism, education, defence and security
