Newly signed Highlanders FC’ striker Washington Navaya whose goal helped Bosso edge Bulawayo Chiefs in the Chibuku Super Cup match yesterday at Babourfields Stadium (BF) has promised fireworks in the next match.
It took less than 45 minutes for the debutant Navaya to find the back of the net donning the black and white colours.
He grabbed his first Bosso goal in the 42nd minute after heading home a wonderful cross from Divine Mhindirira from the left side.
Speaking to the club’s media, the former Division 1 side ZPC Munyati forward said he was delighted to have scored his first goal for the Bulawayo giants.
“I was very excited after scoring that goal, but it’s now water under the bridge,” he said.
Navaya said he was now concentrating on the club’s next assignment against Chicken Inn over the weekend.
He expressed his desire to mantain the goalscoring form to ensure Bosso collected maximum points in their quest to defend the Chibuku Cup.
“We are now focusing on our next match and I hope I will score again and help others to score so that the team collects maximum points,” Navaya said.
In the 2021 Chibuku tournament which is played in a round robin format, Highlanders are in Pool B with Chicken Inn, Bulawayo City and Bulawayo Chiefs.
With Sunday’s win over Chiefs, Bosso are now level on points with the Gamecocks.
The Joey Antipas troops have one goal advantage over Bosso after beating Bulawayo City 2-0 on Saturday at BF.
