Warriors and Kaizer Chiefs’ midfielder, Khama Billiat’s return to action delighted Amakhosi coach Gavin Hunt who welcomed the player back to the squad, Sowetan Live confirmed.
In an interview with the media ahead of Amakhosi’s trip to Conkary, Guinea for the last fixture of the CAF Champions’ League group stage matches, Hunt said he was glad to have Billiat back in the fold.
“It is good to have Castro and Billiat back,” he told Sowetan Live.
Hunt said, “We played last week and, in the derby, (against Orlando Pirates) where we could not make any changes.” “But now we have something and at least we can make changes in that position.
“They (Billiat and Castro) had 20 odd minutes on the field‚ so they have to be ready for Saturday.”
This return of Billiat to action could see the 56-year-old gaffer making a change in his starting line-up, handing the 30-year Billiat his first start in three months.
Billiat has been out of action for three months after sustaining a leg injury, which saw him suffer from a cracked leg bone back in January.
Despite this, the highly rated attacking midfielder was given few minutes to enjoy his game time once again when Hunt introduced him as a substitute in the last 20 minutes of the DSTV Premiership match that ended in a 2-2 draw against Stellenbosch, Tuesday.
Meanwhile, a scoring draw in their crucial CAF game away in Guinea on Saturday, could see Chiefs pull their maiden and historical quarter-final qualification in the CAF Champions League.
