South Africa Football Association (SAFA) has officially terminated the contract of Bafana Bafana coach Molefi Ntseki.
SAFA Chef Executive Officer (CEO) Teboho Motlanthe announced this at a press conference held at SAFA House, Wednesday.
In a statement a SAFA said,”Safa has parted ways with Bafana Bafana coach Molefi Ntseki. Further updates will be provided.”
Reports indicate that Ntseki was fired for his failure to take SA to the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon, in January 2022.
This follows after Bafana Bafana were surprised by a 2 nil defeat in the hands of Sudan during the last game of the AFCON qualifier match that was played at Omdurman, Sunday.
The defeat saw South Africa’s dream to qualify for Cameroon ending in a nightmare.
The SA national senior soccer national team needed only a point to qualify for the 33rd edition of the coming prestigious continental biennal competition (AFCON).
It remains unclear who will replace the former Bafana Bafana Under-17 coach.
The 2010 World Cup hosts are now looking forward to play their WC qualifiers to commence in two months’ time.
In the WC qualifiers SA is in Group G with African giants Ghana, Ethiopia and their neighbours Zimbabwe who qualified for the 2022 AFCON tournament.
