Airforce Helicopter Crash Kills Four

Four people have died while two others were injured after an Air Force of Zimbabwe Agusta Bell 412 (AB 412) helicopter crashed in the Hukuru Area in Arcturus, Friday afternoon.

A child who was playing on the ground was killed when it crashed.

The deceased are two pilots and a technician as well as the local child.

The injured have since been taken to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals for treatment.

In a statement, the AFZ said the helicopter was from Number 8 Sqn at Manyame Air Force Base (Manyame AFB), which was on a general handling training sortie in the Seke-Domboshava Training Area.

“A dark cloud had engulfed the AFZ after the news of the helicopter accident that claimed the lives of three aircrew and a civilian Air Marshal Elson Moyo, the commander of the Air Force of Zimbabwe, said in a statement

“We’re deeply saddened by the loss of lives after the unfortunate accident. Our hearts and prayers are with the families of the deceased and those injured in the accident.”

“The cause of the accident will be established after an air crash investigation and funeral arrangements for the deceased will be announced in due course.”

“The names of the deceased will be released after their next of kind have been informed.”
