With 18-20 people living in one house, cameras rolling 24/7 and two channels dedicated to showing us all the action, it was hard to take our eyes off the action.

 

 

They introduced us to contestants who would soon become local celebrities, actors and reality TV stars in their own right.

 

 

Here are 8 Big Brother contestants we will never forget.

Lerato Sengadi – Big Brother Africa 2 and 5

 

 

Lerato was a contestant on Season two of Big Brother Africa. She represented South Africa and was sent home on the 56th day in the house. She later returned to the show in Season 5 and eventually came out third.

 

 

Since the show, Lerato has made a name for herself in the local entertainment industry. In 2016 she married popular rapper HHP.

 

 

Ace Khumalo and Ntombifuthi Tshabalala – Big Brother Mzansi: Double Trouble

 

 

Ace and Ntombi appeared on Big Brother Africa season 2. This season had double the amount of housemates and allowed for two people in a team to win the show. The couple eventually won and went home with R2 million.

 

 

They premiered their own 10-part reality TV show on Mzansi Magic titled, ‘Ntombi & Ace’. The show only lasted for one season.

 

 

 

In 2016 the couple stepped away from the public eye after it was reported that they were allegedly arrested by police for possession of drugs.

 

 

 

In 2020, the couple who share three children, celebrated 10 years together.

 

 

Mandla Hlatshwayo (winner) and Lexi Van Niekerk (contestant) – Big Brother Mzansi: Secrets

 

 

Former Spaza shop owner Mandla came out as the winner of the 2014 season of Big Brother Mzansi. While on the show, he met and fell in love with a fellow housemate, Lexi.

 

 

 

After the show, the couple stayed together and premiered their own Mzansi Magic show, ‘Mandla and Lexi’. The reality TV series welcome fans into their often tumultuous, relationship but only lasted two seasons.

 

 

 

Over the years, the couple has had very public breaks and makeups.

In 2019, the couple welcomed their first child together. They later broke up but have reportedly, reconciled.

 

 

Blue Mbombo

 

 

Blue Mbombo, whose real name is Thandi Mbombo, has come far from her days as the runner-up of season 2 of Big Brother Mzansi. The 30-year-old, who rose to stardom after her appearance on the show, is now an award-winning model, entrepreneur, brand influencer and the creative producer of Mozaik Africa Magazine.

 

 

 

She currently has over 800 000 followers on Instagram.

 

 

Mbali Nkosi

 

 

Mbali, who was a news anchor and a dancer before appearing in season 2 of Big Brother Mzansi, has now transformed into an entrepreneur with interests in the beauty, fashion and marketing industries. She co-owns a beauty and cosmetics bar, Azuri, with Thembi Seete and she is also the founder of clothing brand, Emme Label, and marketing company, Hotberry Corporation.

 

 

The TV personality currently has over 500 000 followers on Instagram.

Ex Global

 

Ex Global, whose real name is Johannes Motalane, appeared on season 2 of Big Brother Mzansi. He is now a Hip-Hop musician who has featured the likes of A-Reece on his album.

 

 

He currently has 100 000 followers on Instagram.

 

 

Sol Phenduka

 

Shortly after appearing on season 1 of Big Brother Mzansi in 2014, Sol Phenduka was fired from his radio presenting job at 5 FM after joking about the murders of the van Breda family. Now, Sol Phenduka is one of the hosts on controversial but popular YouTube podcast show, Podcast with MacG.

He currently sits at 20 000 followers on Instagram.

 

 

Mzamo Gcabashe

 

Mzamo Gcabashe, who appeared on the first season of Big Brother Mzansi, is now a fashion entrepreneur and an actor. He has appeared on etv’s popular soapie, Rhythm City as Jamaica.

 

He currently has over 21 000 followers on Instagram.

 

According to reports another season of Big Brother Mzansi might be on the cards. These reports are yet to be confirmed by Multichoice.
