In a statement Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said four suspected armed robbers have been killed in Harare central business district Friday.
One of the dead suspects was a ZRP officer based at Hatfield Police Station in the capital city.
Circumstances Complainant received a phone call from his customer who indicated that he wanted a solar battery.
The complainant told the customer that he was going to put the battery in his motor vehicle and make a delivery to the client since it was almost time to close as he wanted to go to Fife Avenue shops.
At around 1800 hours the complainant realized that he had left the battery at his shop and he decided to go back to the shop to collect it.
Upon arrival at the shop, the complainant opened the shop at around 1830 hours and he went to his office to switch off his computer.
Suddenly he was approached by six male adults who were armed with four pistols and one of them was a 0,22mm magnum revolver serial number not held and a pistol which were recovered at the scene.
The accused persons ordered the complainant to lie down whilst pointing firearms at him of which he complied. One of the accused persons grabbed the safe keys and opened the safe.
He took cash amounting to US$10 000-00 from the complainants’ safe and that is when the complainant heard some gunshots outside the shop and four of the accused persons bolted out of the shop.
Robbers shot. The complainant later realized that there were some detectives who were outside the shop who had attacked and arrested the accused persons as a result of the shooting incident.
However, the accused persons also fired back some shots at the detectives but they were overpowered.

The complainant later learnt that all the six accused persons had been shot and arrested at the shop entrance and that is where he picked US$10 000-00 which was dropped by the accused persons during the shooting incident.
All the cash stolen was recovered.
